Prevent AMR through Collaboration between Master of Epidemiology Undip and Boyolali District Livestock and Fisheries Service Office

Master of Epidemiology at Diponegoro University (Undip) collaborates with the Livestock and Fisheries Service Office of Boyolali Regency to implement a program to prevent Antibiotic Resistance (AMR) in the region. This collaboration aims to increase the understanding of the community and farmers regarding the correct use of antibiotics in livestock.

AMR is a serious global problem that can adversely affect human and animal health. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a condition in which bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites undergo changes, making them resistant to drugs. If left unchecked, the risk of disease spread and death becomes higher.

The program run by Undip’s Master of Epidemiology and the Livestock and Fisheries Service Office of Boyolali Regency includes education and training for farmers on the correct way to use antibiotics in livestock, including the use of antibiotics that are not needed and the correct dosage and duration of use.

Head of Undip’s Master of Epidemiology Study Program, Dr. drh. Dwi Sutiningsih, M.Kes, appreciated this collaboration. “This program is a form of positive contribution of Master of Epidemiology in preventing AMR which is increasingly worrying. We hope this collaboration can have a positive impact on the community and breeders in the Boyolali area,” she said.

With this program, it is expected to reduce the risk of AMR spread in the Boyolali area and become one of the steps in AMR prevention efforts nationally. In addition, the collaboration between Undip’s Master of Epidemiology and the Livestock and Fisheries Service Office of Boyolali Regency is also an example of good cooperation between universities and local governments in an effort to improve public health and welfare.
