Ipoh, Malaysia – The Master of Epidemiology Program, Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Diponegoro, demonstrated its international engagement through active participation in the 62nd Annual Scientific Conference of the Malaysian Society of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine (MSPTM) 2026, held on March 30–31, 2026, in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia.
Carrying the theme “Bridging Science and Society: Community-Based Research to Fight Against Infectious Diseases,” the conference served as a strategic platform for academics, researchers, and public health practitioners from various countries to exchange knowledge and experiences in addressing infectious disease challenges, particularly in tropical regions.
Over the two-day event, the conference featured a series of scientific activities, including plenary sessions delivered by international experts, oral and poster presentations, as well as interactive discussions that fostered knowledge exchange and strengthened cross-country research collaborations. Key topics covered included tropical diseases, zoonoses, antimicrobial resistance, and emerging infectious disease challenges within the global health context.
The Master of Epidemiology Program at Universitas Diponegoro was represented by a delegation consisting of three students—Dwi Susanti, S.K.M., Dyah Retno, S.K.M., and Elok Cendikia Esti Wardaya, S.K.M.—along with one faculty member, Dr. Ir. Martini, M.Kes. The students participated in the oral rapid presentation sessions, while the faculty member delivered a presentation in a plenary session. The Undip delegation presented research findings addressing key tropical health issues relevant to the Southeast Asian region.
Participation in this conference not only served as a platform for disseminating research findings but also provided valuable academic exposure for students through direct engagement with the international scientific community. Furthermore, the event opened opportunities for future research collaborations and strengthened academic capacity in addressing evidence-based public health challenges.
This participation reflects Universitas Diponegoro’s commitment to advancing its internationalization agenda toward becoming a World Class University. Through active involvement in global scientific forums, the Master of Epidemiology Program continues to expand its international network and contribute to the advancement of knowledge, particularly in the fields of epidemiology and tropical health.
Moreover, the conference highlighted the importance of community-based research approaches in bridging science and society. Such approaches are expected to generate innovative, practical, and sustainable solutions for the prevention and control of infectious diseases, especially in tropical settings.
With a strong spirit of collaboration and international knowledge exchange, the participation of Universitas Diponegoro in MSPTM 2026 is expected to contribute meaningfully to strengthening Indonesia’s role in the global scientific community, while supporting the advancement of public health research and practice in the future.
